Today’s Meeting

At today’s meeting, Nancy Lindholm will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Peter Higgins will offer the invocation. Our program today will be a craft talk by our own Aman Gupta.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

This Thursday marks St. Patrick’s Day, a cultural and religious celebration in honor of the foremost patron saint of Ireland. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, and the wearing of green attire. The Lenten restrictions on eating and drinking alcohol are lifted for the day, which is likely the explanation for the other popular St. Patrick’s Day activity - drinking beer. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Upcoming Events

  • Annual Basketball Tournament – the 68th Annual Boys Basketball Tournament continues through this month. Opportunities to judge sportsmanship are surely still available. See Steve Lee for any questions.
  • District Assembly Training - Rotary District 5240’s District Assembly Training will take place on Saturday, April 2 at Pacifica High School. This is a great opportunity for those in leadership positions in the Club to learn more about Rotary, board positions and club committee positions. There is no charge to attend the District Assembly, and you will have an opportunity to take the Introduction to PRLS class. The club is required to turn in only one registration for all attendees, so please let Kendall know if you have an interest in attending.
  • Strawberry Festival – Our club was selected again to man a beer booth at the Festival. Check for your RBS card, and watch for sign-up dates to get RBS certified by May!
  • Pedal Against Polio – April marks the month for district-wide events to eradicate polio. Our club will be participating with others in our group to Pedal Against Polio . . . see John Clay, Jr. for more information.
