Merry Christmas to all!

REMINDER for today . . . there will be NO board meeting

Today’s Meeting

At today’s meeting, we are scheduled to be led in the Pledge of Allegiance by Gabe Soumakian and Sue Chadwick is scheduled to offer the invocation. Our secret greeter will be - oops! It’s a secret!!!

We were given a secret greeter lesson last week by President George, who reminded us that it is not the responsibility of the secret greeter to find us, it is our responsibility to mix & mingle, say hello to everyone and then we will just naturally happen upon the secret greeter. Get it? Good!

We are scheduled today for the bake sale! Bring your goodies and they will get auctioned off and snapped up for fun!

Recent Happenings

The Oxnard Christmas Parade was a great success, even though the Kiwanis Club was awarded best service club. Wait, there was a contest?!?! If we had known that, we would have been especially festive and merry . . . next year! Thank to President George, Patrick and Sherry Mullin, spirit leader Larry Reilly and ‘president’ Norm Bernstein, all of whom (along with your bulletin editor and several Interacters) walked the parade and Rotary signs.

After the parade, 5 local Rotary Clubs joined together to build a Can Tree to benefit FoodShare. Of all the clubs, Oxnard Rotary was the only one that was joined by our Interacters!

A Rotary Christmas Story

Twas 2 days before Christmas, and all through the Club,
The bulletin editor’s pencil was wore down, right to the nub.
The members were waiting, some with fanfare,
In hopes that a replacement soon would be there.

The editor was nestled all snug by her keyboard,
Where the notes and events and all happenings were stored.
And her spouse in amazement once again did vent,
“What is wrong, no bulletin yet?!”

“I know,” she replied, “I just ran out of time.”
“I didn’t know this job would be for a lifetime!”
In jest, of course — your editor truly enjoys her job
Of marking the events of this Rotary mob.

Although as one moves her way up the Rotary ranks,
She inevitably must let things go and say ‘no thanks,’
To things — that even though are fun —
Keep her too busy, so with the bulletin she must be done.

Then through her emails and phones, there arose such a clatter,
She ran to her devices to see what was the matter.
Away to her computer she dashed with such glee,
And opened her laptop to see what could it be?

When what to her wondering eyes did appear,
But a volunteer editor, assuring her “No fear!
I will help out, I want to get involved,
And too much on your plate? That problem I can solve!”

With Rotary members, all ready to serve,
Surely among us there is at least one with the nerve
To offer the time, like one of Santa’s elves,
And live the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self.”
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
