Today is Election Day . . . true, not a big election in what is not even a “mid-year” election, but local races can impact us even more sometimes than national ones. Don’t forget to vote if you have something (or someone) on your ballot!
Today’s Meeting
Today, the Pledge of Allegiance will be led by John Kearney and your Bulletin Editor will offer us the invocation. Today’s speaker is Heather Behrens, Program Coordinator for Heritage Square in Oxnard.
Last Week’s Meeting
A big thank you to Kathy Leahy and Goodwill Industries for hosting our off-site meeting. After lunch, we had a tour of the facility offices and their warehouse. Goodwill Industries is a most impressive operation, and the organization, merchandising plans and sheer physical labor involved in putting it together are things one cannot appreciate from simply walking into a store. The highlights? Lots and LOTS of HUGE bundles of clothes and stuffed animals, and myriad other “stuff,” all packed into a massive warehouse. Oh, and Kathy’s swag office, too.
Our guests last week included the new Interact faculty advisor from Oxnard High School . . . and Chaucer Regnier, the English bulldog. Welcome to both!
Pumpkin Auction
Thanks to all who participated in the Great Pumpkin Auction of 2013 in honor of Tom McGrath. Our bidding raised $500 in Tom’s honor to be designated for scholarship use at the end of the year.
What did you do with your pumpkin? Here’s what your Bulletin Editor did for her office.

On This Day in History . . .
In 1912, Woodrow M. Wilson was elected the 28th President of the United States, in a landslide victory . . . In 1968, Richard M. Nixon was elected President, defeating Hubert Humphrey in one of the closest elections in history . . . in 1994, George M. Foreman became the oldest heavyweight championship in history . . . in 2009, 13 people were killed at Fort Hood when Army Major General Nidal Hasan opened fire at the military installation.
Your Happy Dollar Trivia Question: Who were the two candidates that Wilson defeated, and what parties were they from?
