Today’s Meeting

Hello Rotarians! Today, John Puglise is scheduled to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and our invocation will be presented by Ed Gibbs. Our speaker today will be District Governor Jack McClenahan. Please also join us this evening for our meet-and-greet with the DG, a joint effort with the Oxnard Sunrise Club. See Cris for more information.

Last Week’s Meeting

We were all saddened to hear of the loss this last week of our good friend and fellow Rotarian, Tom McGrath. Tom was a good and gentle soul, and a real gentleman. Fitting tributes and remembrances were offered by Phyllis Throckmorton, Dick Regnier and Ed Gibbs. Our thoughts and prayers are with Tom’s wife and family, and he will be missed, both as a person and a Rotarian.

Our guests last week included Wanda Kelly, a guest of member John Puglise. Wanda is a colleague of John’s at the Rio School district.

Our speaker last week was with the Channel Islands Maritime Museum. We learned of the many interesting and valuable items in the museum’s collection, and were entertained by the colorful story of the museum’s move from its previous location in Fisherman’s Wharf to it’s current venue, which is the former Port Royal restaurant.

Well-deserved acknowledgement was given to Gary Davis last week. Gary was the first — but not to be the last! — recipient of a pin to recognize his contribution to new membership in the club. Way to go Gary!

Reminder: Off-Site Meeting October 29

On October 29, we will be hosted by Kathy Leahy at Goodwill! Our meeting will take place at noon at Goodwill’s headquarters at 130 Lombard Street. Mark your calendars!
