Teacher Recognition

Our club bestowed our teacher recognition on Michelle Madrid, a 7th Grade Language Arts teacher at Fremont Intermediate School. Ms. Madrid also is teacher advisor for Fremont’s ASB.

Principal Pam Morrison nominated Ms. Madrid for this special recognition, noting her to be an “outstanding teacher with a personality that exudes warmth and caring for all with whom she teaches and works.” Ms. Madrid prepares exciting lessons for her students, who really enjoy being in her class. As ASB teacher, Ms. Madrid teaches her students leadership skills, and helps the students develop activities that benefit the whole school. “Michelle is the type of teacher any Principal would be proud to have on her staff. We at Fremont are pleased that she has chosen to share her talents with us.”

This Week’s Teacher Recognition. . . .

Will be presented today (Tuesday) at 2:45 at Kamala Elementary School. All Rotarians are welcome to attend this presentation!

Welcome Back!!

We are pleased to welcome back John Clay, Jr. and Dick Regnier, both home safe & sound from their trip to India for NID (National Immunization Day). Both had experiences of a lifetime, and we look forward to a future meeting to hear about them all. We are proud to have our local members making a worldwide impact!

Gallant Jr. stayed back to help a member who had lost her passport . . . Service Above Self!

Last Week’s Speaker

Bob Davis, a fellow Rotarian (Ventura South) graciously filled the ticket last week on short notice, and addressed the club about our current lending environment, and some things to watch out for so that neither we, nor anyone that we care about, becomes a victim of real estate fraud.

Bob educated the club about HR 4173, commonly referred to as “Dodd-Frank” (Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act), which brought significant regulatory reform to the financial industry. Among other things, Dodd-Frank clarified lending regulations, and regulated fees.

Bob cautioned us to simply get to know who we are dealing, and what everyone’s job is supposed to be in the loan transaction — the broker versus the lender versus the middle man. Find out who you are hiring by checking them out with “NMLS,” the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
