Today’s Meeting
At today’s meeting, Bill Belcher will lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Gary Trow will offer the invocation.
Our speaker today is Commodore Harry M. Jacobs with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. The Commodore is the Director of Public Affairs for the Auxiliary, and will be speaking to us about America’s Waterway Watch, a Coast Guard-sponsored nationwide program that helps prevent acts of terrorism and other illegal activity. AWW educates and trains members of the maritime and recreational boating organizations, as well as the boating public, to recognize and report suspicious activity to appropriate authorities.
Last Week’s Meeting
Oh, does the Bulletin Editor need remind you about last week’s meeting and special event?! With many thanks to Hugh McManigal, Patrick Mullin and Bert Partida, we had the pleasure of sending off President Mark in a very special way.
The evening began with the induction of two new members, Suki Sir and Juan Guerrero, who had a very unique first official meeting. We were then honored to introduce five members of the Paul Harris Society - Oxnard Rotarians Tagg Baker and Mike Barber, along with Interact Advisor Jaime Nichols and community member Dr. Davide Neumeister, for his annual support of our Basketball Tournament.
The club had the pleasure of honoring Marta and Forrest Brown for their sustained and remarkable support of the Rotary Foundation, and presenting them with recognition as Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation. A truly special distinction for our club.
The entertainment commenced, and Mark was roasted by celebrity guest Bob Eubanks, who regaled us with one-liners and stories of his radio beginnings right here in Oxnard. The evening continued with a rousing game of “The (not so) Newlywed Game.” The Benzs, the McDougals, the Mullins and the Belchers were the best of sports, and we learned a little bit too much about some of our fellow Rotarians.
Mark capped the evening off with thanks to his board and good wishes for the coming year!
